Autumn is crawling into the city
The visits of the warm yellow light become shorter
The wind becomes confident
Showing her strength on my wet skin
Grey clouds cover the ocean
Allowing only the seagulls to touch her
They observe me
As a welcome stranger
I am floating
The massive rocks seem to adopt me
The soft water absorbs the warmth of my body
The Leça Swimming Pool by Alvaro Siza places your body and mind between the harsh and the smooth. The roughness of the ocean and the softness of the ocean each have their impact on space and time. Seeing the natural rocks in combination with the raw massive concrete is fascinating and captures your interest before you even enter.
The movement through the building sets you in a mood of an adventure. On a grey day like this, even the sand is rough. It reminds you of its history. When entering the water the power of the place reaches its climax. All impressions melt together and penetrate through every cell of your skin until time disappears.
